TCC Northwest Campus Hosts Big X 2016 Event

CBS 11 and KRLD NewsRadio 1080 recently aired a story highlighting Tarrant County College Northwest Campus hosting Big X 2016. The three day event hosted police, firefighters, public health officials, hospitals and emergency managers from 16 North Texas counties. During the three days emergency responders received training dealing with everything from responding to tornadoes to potential terrorist attacks. More than 3,500 individuals from federal, state and local agencies honed their skills.

TCC’s Education Fair for ITT Students Featured on Channel 11

CBS-11 News recently aired a story highlighting how Tarrant County College is looking to help the now former students of ITT Technical. TCC South Campus hosted an “Education Fair” geared towards helping the former students of the recently closed ITT Tech continue their education. TCC had financial aid, veteran affairs, and transfer coordinators on hand to help former ITT Tech students find the best pathway to continue their education.

TCC’s Swift Water Training Center Featured on Channel 11

The Arlington Fire Department’s Swift Water Rescue Team spent the evening at a water training facility at TCC Northwest in Fort Worth. This is one of many training sessions to come for first responders all around Texas. The training at the center’s Swift Water Simulator, one of the best in the region, could be the difference between life and death.

TCC’s New Autism Spectrum Disorder Program Featured on KTXA 21

KXTA Channel 21 recently ran a story about Tarrant County College’s classes for students who suffer from Autism Syndrome Disorder (ASD). Autism is a mental condition that becomes present in early childhood, it causes challenges in communicating, developing abstract thought and forming relationships with other people. But as highlighted by Channel 21, students who suffer from autism refuse to let the disease get in the way of furthering their education and future careers.

The Autism program at Tarrant County College is geared towards making sure every student who enters the program leaves with the skills that it takes it make it in the workplace, furthering their education and forming relationships that will last a lifetime. TCC’s Erma C. Johnson Hadley Center of Excellence for Aviation, Transportation and Logistics Coverage

WFAA.com provided online coverage of TCC’s May 24 dedication ceremony for the new Erma C. Johnson Hadley Center of Excellence for Aviation, Transportation and Logistics at Alliance Airport.

 

In recognition of the late chancellor’s 47 years of committed service, the Tarrant County College Board of Trustees unanimously voted, as a hallmark of her legacy, to rename the aviation center due her commitment to positioning TCC as a national leader in aviation education.

 

The 163,500-square-foot aviation center allowed TCC two years ago to bring its aviation programs under one roof along with the Logistics and Supply Chain Management Program, which includes warehouse and transportation management classes. TCC’s aviation programs include Avionics Technology, Airframe Maintenance, Advanced Composite Technology and Professional Pilot Training.

TCC’s Southeast Campus’ new Autism Spectrum Disorder helps students by providing specialized training that helps students with academic and social support. The program was featured on CBS 11 News that was also aired by the CBS affiliate in Knoxville, TN.

TCC Employee Elected to APTA Board

According to the “Work Faces” column in the Oct. 11 Fort Worth Star-Telegram, McEwing_Andre_2754 (4)TCC Supplier Diversity Manager Andre McEwing recently was elected to the 2015-16 Board of the Directors of the American Public Transportation Association. McEwing has served on the Board of Directors for the Fort Worth Transportation Authority for three years and is in his second term as vice chairman.
