STEM occupations – those that focus on Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics – are growing exponentially. Students matriculating into College are told they need to focus on their Science and Math skills because having a STEM-related degree is what they need for success in today’s global workplace.
What may not be said is that focusing on STEM can serve them in more than just a Science- or Math-related field — the skills they learn can help them succeed in nearly any field. At its core, STEM is about problem solving and critical thinking.
On November 13, 2021, the Bond Team & their construction partner Skanska presented to the students participating in the Northwest Campus Latina STEM Fellowship program. They were able to demonstrate how problem solving, critical thinking, teamwork, and creativity come together to build a building “Program” that has multiple construction projects with a multifaceted organizational structure that covers multiple campuses. Most importantly they were able to showcase different roles and positions within the industry and how valuable each person’s role is relation to the success of the project.
The event was a great success, and the Bond team has been invited to present a follow-up program next summer.
